Why choose a countertop water dispenser for your workplace?
Space-saving without compromise
A countertop water dispenser for office spaces delivers the same quality and output as a freestanding unit in a fraction of the footprint. Whether you need something for a breakroom kitchenette, a reception desk or a small meeting room, a compact dispenser fits without taking over the space.
Hot & cold from one unit
Most countertop models offer at least chilled and hot water from a single machine, removing the need for a separate kettle or fridge. Select models go further, adding ambient, sparkling and extra-hot options. For small offices, that versatility in a compact format is hard to match.
Bottled or mains-fed
If you have easy access to a cold water feed, a mains-fed model gives you unlimited filtered water on demand with no bottles to manage. If you don’t, a bottled unit works anywhere with a power outlet. Both options are available across the countertop range, so you can choose based on your infrastructure rather than the other way around.
Built for businesses
Culligan countertop water coolers are commercial-grade units built for daily business use, backed by professional installation and servicing. They are designed to handle the demand of a working office or workplace, and come with the same Culligan rental and maintenance support as larger floor-standing models.

Not sure which model is right for your business? Here’s a quick guide to the four main types, so you can find the right fit for your space and requirements.
Hot and Cold Countertop Water Dispensers
The most popular choice for offices and workplaces. These models deliver chilled water for drinking and hot water for tea and coffee from a single compact unit, making them the practical all-in-one solution for most business environments. Available as mains-fed or bottled, with some models also offering ambient and sparkling water.
Best for: offices, breakrooms, reception areas, kitchenettes
Key benefit: eliminates the need for a separate kettle
Available as: mains-fed or bottled
Mains-Fed Countertop Water Dispensers
Plumbed directly into your cold water supply, mains-fed countertop dispensers provide an unlimited supply of filtered water on demand. Ideal for offices where a bottled cooler would require too-frequent deliveries, or where mains water quality is a priority. No bottles, no deliveries, no running out.
Best for: busy offices, healthcare settings & hospitality
Key benefit: unlimited supply, no deliveries to manage
Requires: a mains cold water connection
Bottled Countertop Water Dispensers
Using a standard water cooler bottle rather than a mains connection, bottled countertop units can be placed anywhere there is a power outlet. They are quick to set up with no installation works required, and can easily be moved if your layout changes. A good option for smaller teams, temporary spaces or locations without accessible pipework.
Best for: smaller teams, remote desks, temporary setups
Key benefit: no plumbing required
Compatible with: standard Culligan 11L, 15L & 19L refill bottles

Where countertop water dispensers work best
Offices and small workplaces
The most common environment for countertop water dispensers. A compact hot and cold unit on a kitchen counter or in a breakroom gives staff access to chilled and hot water without a large floor-standing cooler taking up valuable space. Particularly well suited to offices of up to 15 people, or as a secondary point in larger buildings.
Reception areas and waiting rooms
A countertop dispenser in a reception or waiting area gives visitors access to water without the bulk of a freestanding cooler. Stylish models like the Selfizz NEO are designed specifically for front-of-house environments where presentation matters alongside practicality.
Healthcare settings
GP surgeries, clinics and healthcare waiting rooms benefit from compact, hygienic dispensers that can be positioned exactly where they are needed without plumbing works. Plus, mains-fed models with Firewall UVC purification meet the highest water quality standards for clinical healthcare environments.
Hospitality and cafe environments
Countertop water coolers and dispensers suit staff areas, back-of-house kitchens and cafe prep environments where space is limited. The Aquabar MT 80’s high-capacity output and fast filling speed make it a practical option for hospitality settings with higher demand.

Frequently asked questions
A countertop water dispenser is a compact water cooler designed to sit on a desk, worksurface or kitchen counter rather than on the floor. It delivers chilled, hot, ambient or sparkling water depending on the model, and is available either as a mains-fed unit (plumbed into your water supply) or a bottled unit (powered by a standard water cooler bottle).
Only mains-fed models require a connection to your water supply. Countertop bottled water dispenser units need only a power outlet and can be placed anywhere in your office without any installation works. As part of Culligan’s rental packages, installation is included for both types, so our engineers take care of everything.
The main difference is size and placement. Countertop water coolers and dispensers sit on a worksurface and are suited to smaller teams, compact spaces and secondary hydration points. Freestanding coolers stand independently on the floor and are generally better suited to larger offices with higher footfall. Both types are available as mains-fed or bottled, and both can provide hot and cold water. If you’re not sure which suits your space, our team can advise based on your team size and usage.
Yes. Most countertop models in the Culligan range include both hot and cold water as standard, making them a practical all-in-one solution that removes the need for a separate kettle. Select hot and cold countertop water dispenser models such as the C7 Firewall go further, offering up to five temperature options including ambient, sparkling and extra-hot water from a single unit.
There is no metered charge for using the water itself on a rental plan. Your monthly cost covers the machine, servicing and on a mains-fed model, unlimited access to filtered water. On a bottled model, water is supplied via your Culligan bottle delivery plan. Once set up, the water itself is accessible to your team at any time at no additional per-use cost.
The most common issues are water temperature inconsistency, mineral scale build-up in hard water areas and hygiene concerns if the dispenser is not regularly cleaned. Culligan’s rental and service plans address all three: scheduled sanitisation visits maintain hygiene, filter replacements manage scale, and our call-out service handles any performance issues quickly. If you’re renting, we take care of all of this as part of your plan.
Most countertop dispensers benefit from a service visit once or twice per year, depending on the model, usage level and local water hardness. Each visit includes sanitisation, filter replacement and a performance check. On Culligan rental plans, scheduled servicing is managed by our team and included in your monthly cost. For purchased units, we offer optional service plans that provide the same standard of care.
