“Mercury Engineering Awards a New Datacentre Water Treatment system to Culligan UK Ltd, based in the Slough area, UK.”
Mercury Engineering has purchased its latest custom designed water treatment system from Culligan UK. A robust and efficient Reverse Osmosis system will be designed, supplied, and commissioned over the next few months. The decision to buy Culligan’s solution resulted from a site specific requirements on treating borehole water with high levels of Iron and Manganese and space constraints. Culligan was selected not only for the quality of their equipment, but for the design and technical knowledge they showed in proposing an effective long- term solution.
The datacentre incorporates adiabatic coolers for the removal of heat from the data halls. This process utilises water of high quality to feed the adiabatic coolers. To attain maximum efficiency of the cooling system with less maintenance regime, reverse osmosis product water is recommended. The solution is driven to save water & energy, reduce annual maintenance, and maximise coolers life span.
Culligan will be manufacturing and installing a custom skid mounted Reverse Osmosis system that has a relatively small footprint to meet site’s space limitations. “We will be supplying our IW EVO RO system that has tailored pre-treatment system and automatic flushing to extend the working life of the membranes in the reverse osmosis system. The system is designed to reduce high levels of incoming dissolved solids in the borehole and potable feed water.
The pre-treatment involves a carefully designed Iron & Manganese removal pressure filtration system to protect the RO from ferric & manganese dioxide fouling. Feeding the adiabatic coolers with RO water shall benefit on operating the coolers at higher concentration of cycles (CoC) upto 8 CoC, which saves water,” said Moorthy Palanivelu, Culligan’s Projects Development Manager. The system will be commissioned in summer this year and is supported with an annual service contract to ensure the system operates efficiently throughout its life.
For over seventy years Culligan has led the way in water treatment technology supplying our customers with safe high quality water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, bathing and manufacturing, from the smallest to the largest applications, commercial and industrial market sectors.
The Culligan products and technology used in these applications represent an ongoing commitment to delivering the very best water treatment solutions for our customers. As a result of continuous development and review, the Culligan range is one of the most comprehensive available within the market today.
